SAGE Cup Philippines
SAGE Cup Philippines is a business competition for high school students accompanied with the essential mentorship by college students and local business leaders. SAGE Philippines operates according to the global office’s practical application of ethical business practices, social responsibility, civic engagement and environmental awareness.
This year, to further promote the SAGE commitment to the making the world a better place, we encourage all high school teams to create social businesses by taking inspiration from the United Nation’s Millennium Development Goals.
SAGE Cup Philippines is a business-do competition, which sets it apart from other competitions that focuses on business plans alone. We judge the entries of various high school teams in the country according to how well they have put up and managed their ventures.
SAGE Cup Philippines 2009 will be held on February 28 and March 1, 2009, Saturday, at the University of the Philippines Los Banos. The cup will be co-hosted by the Junior Jaycees of Los Banos.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: SAGE CUP 2009 HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO JUNE 21ST, 2009.
CALLING ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: Are you interested in joining the competition? Please read the instructions.

SAGE Facts (in a Nutshell)
History
• Founded in summer 2002 by Dr. Curtis L. DeBerg and a team of California State University, Chico State
• Named, created and pioneered the field of youth entrepreneurship, including business entrepreneurship (BE) and social entrepreneurship (SE)
• The first SAGE World Cup was held in May 2003 with teams from Poland, Mexico, Tajikistan and the United States; the program has now grown to include nine U.S. states and 17 countries
• Founded on the same premise stated by Robert F. Kennedy, who said:
“There are those who look at things the way they are, and ask why…I dream of things that never were, and ask why not.”
SAGE believes that the creativity and energy of youth are an untapped resource in can in shaping their own futures. SAGE asks, “Why not provide an avenue to help them create better futures? Why not help them see that they can truly change the world?” SAGE inspires youth to do believe that they can contribute their knowledge, skills and energy to enhance their local and multinational communities.
• SAGE’s global logo is green, and is represented by two hands interlocked in a handshake superimposed across the globe. The logo is green to represent Mother Earth, which provides the scarce, natural resources that all human beings must use wisely. The shaking hands represent friendship, peace and goodwill to all people, and is meant to show how socially-responsible businesses and social entrepreneurs can work together to build global networks to improve the financial, human, and social conditions in their own communities. Country networks take on the dominant colors of their flags into their logos.
