Manila, Philippines — Mark this day world, SAGEPHILIPPINES.org is born. In order to be on top of its operations and to keep up with the latest tech trends of the youth, SAGE Philippines launches its site, www.sagephilippines.org.
The site serves as the primary communication tool to high school students in the Philippines as another year of SAGE Cup Philippines begins. The competition is scheduled on January 24, 2009 and as early as now, the site hopes to entice high school students to come up with business ventures with the ideal focus of making a difference in the world. Literally. SAGE Philippines now encourages its high school teams to take inspiration from the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals for their social businesses. SAGE Philippines has already posted the competition mechanics for the Cup. The site is also equipped with an uploading capability for the submission of competition entries.
To inspire the entrepreneurial spirit among future SAGE Teams, SAGEPhilippines.org features the successful Philippine SAGE Teams and their businesses.
Yet high school students are not the only target audience of this website. Entrepreneurs, college students, and professionals can also use the site to volunteer in the organization or to mentor the high school teams that will be joining the competition. Through its membership login facility, the site promises to update its members religiously on the latest news about SAGE activities and tips on mentorship.
SAGE Philippines also welcomes SAGE teams from other SAGE Country Networks to use the site to contact the Philippine teams to satisfy the “Global Dimension” part of the Cup criteria. Tess Garcia, SAGE Country Coordinator for the Philippines, shares her excitement over this particular feature because it highlights the “unique aspect of SAGE that we are all part of one global community”. The site aims to be a tool for the sharing of ideas in business ventures and learning points in running a SAGE Country Network.
SAGEPhilippines.org also features a “Donate” page to appeal to philanthropists around the world. Through this site, SAGE Philippines invites donors and volunteers alike to join its advocacy for young people as a formidable solution to the world’s problem of poverty.
SAGE Philippines thanks its friends and partners for their support and generosity in making the launch of this website a success.
